When I was walking back from lunch with two work-mates Jeff & Clint, we started talking about times in our lives when we've thrown some funny out into the world and sometimes it gets cast on comedically challenged persons and/or thrown right back in our faces. Because come on.....we're pretty funny, and some people just don't get it.

I shared a CLASSIC example that happened quite recently about a week at a friend's wedding. It was reception time and the bunch was getting lively. Boxed wine and good food lead to rhythmic footsteps on parquet flooring! Kevin and I and some friends were "bringing attractive back" on the dance floor when the song suddenly segued into a much less cool song and I decided to make a quick exit off the dance floor. I kind of bumped into this girl who was twirling away from her dance partner. It kind of twirled us around each other and I had to make a quick decision. "Okay," I thought to myself. "This girl seems fun-loving. She's spinning around on the floor with her friend, laughing and smiling and seeming generally pretty cool and most DEFINITELY up for a little fun with a stranger!" So I did it. Amid our twirl I kind of grabbed her arms and spun her around a couple more times thinking, ha ha ha! Way to make an awkward stumble into 3 seconds of hilarity!! SUCCESS! Or so I thought. Upon my release she just kind of looked at me with a face that said only, "Huh?" and went back to her partner. It was clear from her expression that her defense could only be to pretend that what had just happened had not, in fact, happened at all.

I AM AN IDIOT!!! Looking back, I can see how that could MAYBE seem mildly creepy, but come on! It didn't have to! I think I would have thought something like that was hilarious!! Right? RIGHT? Well anyway, I managed to brush my shame under the rug I was cutting and still have a good time, although I did take pains to avoid eye contact with "her" and to stay as close to Kevin as I could when she was in sight lest she think I was trying to do some strange courting dance to win her affections and take her away from her dancing man.

Dang. If anyone ever does that to me, I promise I'll laugh.

thankful, part deux

There were a couple of things I forgot to mention I was thankful about, so I thought I'd write an amendment blog for those very things.

1. My amazing friends who never fail to remind me that this blog is really about them. THANKS!

2. This shower curtain that Kevin and I got from Target with our duplicate gift return money! We love it. It's in our guest bathroom and it makes me want to make that my primary bathroom so I can spend more time looking at it.

It is officially the day before Thanksgiving and boy do I have a lot to be thankful for. The weather is getting cooler, I'm wearing one of my favorite mustard yellow sweaters in honor of "fall," - if there is such a thing in Texas - and I'm generally probably living in the best time of my life to date.

Here's a list of things I'm thankful for, not including those I just mentioned.

1. Jesus. I wonder if He's getting excited about his forthcoming birthday! WINK!

2. a "new" bedspread that's finally in use after receiving it as a gift last Christmas. (don't worry, this isn't a picture of our actual room.....just the merchandising of said bedspread online)

3. living in Dallas. It's changing my/our lives. I think I only had to fill up once last week, rather than twice, and Kevin has exchanged his 3 fill ups/week for 1 every week and a half. Hurrah! We're also grateful for living so close to our work places. Getting hours of your life back every day is indeed praiseworthy.

4. having the luxury of a "guest" bathroom. guests......BRING IT ON!

5. not having to say "goodnight" anymore.

6. Barcelona slideshows that will be up as soon as we get internet.

7. my family.

8. my new family.

9. our pots and pans and my new recipes!

and finally.......

10. I am exceedingly grateful for this most wonderful and recently acquired husband of mine.

I love him so much and I'm excited about this little adventure we're starting. Plus he's pretty easy on the eyes.

one more...

Here's a picture that didn't make it into the original batch because of a blogger error message it kept giving me.

Nice right?

And here's another for good measure:

Mawwiage! (sic)

I. Am. Married. And it's glorious. I hope to write a more in depth blog about the wedding, the Barthelona, and the return, but for now I just want to share some pictures from the "photo booth" section of our wedding. Genius, by the by.

Can I just say that Carter Rose and Ryan Thompson are dang amazing?! All of the photos below are courtesy of Dallas In Focus. I feel no shame in saying that we had the best photographers ever for our wedding. And we got them before their business was booming and we couldn't afford them anymore. *WINK*

Anyhoot, here are some of my favorites.

Love 'em. Stay tuned for more blogs with words.
