Man, I have some great friends. Do you ever just think about your friends and just start smiling? Friends are so important and I have some of the best. I was inclined to put some pictures up, but inevitably I'd put pics up that didn't include everyone I love and I'd get lovingly griped out by my little beloveds, so for now, this is a words only post.

at last, my love has come along

I came home to my sweet sick Kevin today and went in the kitchen to get some grapes. I love grapes. And I love the grapes I got at Target. Because I love Target. But I digress. I came home and am in the kitchen when Kevin asks me from the living room if I'll put up the LOST season 2 dvd set. You see, he's sick, and can't put them up himself. I come back from getting my cup o' grapes, grab the dvd, open up the dresser/entertainment center and put them away. I start to walk back to the couch to eat my grapes in peace and Kevin says,

"Baaaabe."

I open it back up and say, "Did I not put the dvds away to your liking?"

He laughs and as I open it up again to readjust them, he says, "What's that down there?"

I'LL TELL YOU WHAT WAS DOWN THERE!!!!!

He got a bonus at work and used it to get me a MacBook!! I have the best husband in all the land! I've been saving to get my MacBook since I graduated college in 2005 and something else has always come up just when I have enough money. Car, wedding, etc. I can't believe it! He's getting double hugs tonight, what what!!

i'll book YOUR storm!

So I've done it. I've finally done it. I joined a book club. The idea of a bookclub has always seemed so romantic to me. People reading fascinating books and coming together bi-weekly (which is every two weeks, by the by) to discuss their questions, comments, testimonials, etc. Friendships will be tested, ideals challenged, and ultimately you'll come out a more educated, well-rounded person. And so I joined.

We are majestic.
We are thought provoking.
We are terminally good looking.
We are.....BOOKSTORM!

Our goal is to read, at least for the time being, autobiographies that are historically based. Our first novel on the table is Living my Life by Emma Goldman.



We, against all moral integrity, are reading the abridged version that's 500 pages, compared to the 2 volume unabridged version that's 1,000, but in all fairness, there was nary a volume 2 to be found! Plus, it was 1,000 pages so......

Abridged it is!

I love reading autobiographies. I have always loved non-fiction more than fiction.....save the several years in elementary and middle school that I would have given my left foot for a good R.L. Stine thriller. I just love the idea that someone's life is interesting enough for someone to pay money to read about. And now this book is even more interesting because it's relatable to our nation's history. Emma Goldman was an integral part of the early anarchist movement in the United States during the late 1800s and early 1900s. It's really fascinating to read about historical events from an individual (and an influential individual) of the time.

The next book after this will be Notebooks by Albert Camus. I'll keep you (blog) posted!

This American Animation

In early May, Kevin and I went a couple friends (Hampton!) to see one of our favorite NPR programs, "This American Life" on the big screen. It was for one night only: Thursday, May 1 at 8 pm ET/7 pm CT/6 pm MT and tape-delayed at 8 pm PT, and we went to see it at the AMC Theater in NorthPark Mall. So everywhere around the nation at selected theaters we were all watching it at the same time (sans the west coast). It was a great night and this was one of the animated pieces they did for one of their mini-stories on the TV version of the show.

The weekend before last Good Records hosted "Record Store Day" and since their 8th birthday was in February, they decided to make it a birthday party, too. Free hot dogs, veggie burgers, sno cones, refreshments, friends and 13+ hours of awesome music = a fantastic Saturday.

So does anyone else know about this guy? His name is Josh Dolgin (known professionally as Socalled) and I just learned about him today because this artist agency in New York invited my boss to see a show he's going to be doing at the Apollo in May, and he wanted me to research the artists.
Pretty freaking amazing. Here's a video he has on his site. The other guys (Fred Wesley and David Krakauer) are the guys he's doing the show with that my boss might be going to, what what.


I strongly encourage anyone who doesn't already know about this "SOCALLED" (ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha........ ha ha) beat architect to check him out and then proceed to love him.
