phenylalanine

So today during lunch, I decided to perform a little experiment on myself. (The title of this post is supposed to be an ingredient that might likely be included in an experiment.) This experiment consisted of me not continuing to eat after the point at which I feel full of food. This differs from my normal routine of eating until my plate is empty. I blame this ill-thinking on my parents' draconian insistence that I be a member of the "Clean Plate Club" in order to obtain some dessert.

Good thing my parents don't read this. (coughDadcough)

Anybuns, my friend Julie at work went and got some Mexican food from El Mercado today and I, per usual, ordered the flautas. These flautas came with some beans (didn't eat them of course.....julesdwit, if you were here we could have done an exchange of sorts with your delicious guacamole for my gross beans), rice and chips to boot!!

I did stop eating after I was full, and I noticed that I had more than half of my meal left over, but nary a centimeter was left in my stomach. I shall take this from my extremely serious experiment:

I don't need as much food as I have previously believed I did in order to sustain life.

Sucks to you "Clean Plate Club!"

OMG... there was a clean plate club and the Mouse people formed it?! It had to be a sub-committee of the Mouseketeers or something. I wonder if they had another sub-committee like "clean underwear every day" or "brush your teeth twice a day or risk cavities or painful dental work in your late twenties and thirties" club? Hmmm...

I hated the Clean Plate Club, although my parents weren't so clever so as to use the actual name of the club as incentive (didn't know about it, I guess). However, they also made me be part of the unofficial "Hurry up and finish your plate" club. This, in turn, has caused me to not only eat everything on my plate but to eat it quicker than everyone else at the table. Thanks Mom and Dad....

Ha ha ha ha ha! That's hilarious Annie!! I'm the same way! I'm always done first! ....hmm....maybe you and I should eat together more often. Can you say "VALIDATION?!"

Oh, and Jenni, see here for a complete list of the clubs they have.......incidentally, second row, third over = The Tooth Brushing Award! I don't know about all that cavity stuff.....sounds like some repressed feelings regarding your dental hygiene..... *WINK*

I read your blog posting from the other day. It’s an honor to be a member of the clean plate club. Most of what we were trying to get you to eat didn’t consist of things like flautas and rice but of more vitamin-enriched things like vegetables. Everyone eats too much when they go to a Mexican restaurant—it’s part of the experience….”let’s see if I can eat that entire basket of chips by myself…heh, heh, heh….” And to think she doesn’t believe her Father reads her website. Fie to you, partial plate cleaner!!!!!
