adelaide & hudson

I went to Wimberley, TX this weekend to play worship for a youth conference called FOCUS, and the whole weekend was great! I got to really befriend people I'd already felt like I'd known for years, and I happened to fall in love with a little girl by the name of Addie who has the cutest little lemon eating face brother in the world, Hudson. I think that when we have kids, I want to do everything in my power to make them turn out like this:

sounds like a good, non-manipulative, accept you for who you are parenting tactic, right? RIGHT?!

etsy dallas!

Thanks to James, I just found out that there's an etsy dallas group who does trunk shows pretty frequently, and one of them is this weekend! They even have their own blogspot address.

Now I'm both excited about this and sad. Excited because I never knew there was something like this around, and sad because Kevin & I are going to Austin for the weekend and I won't be able to spend way too much money on local art!!

For those of you unfamiliar, here is the etsy (not just dallas) site. Once you start, you'll never stop.

what the hail?!

It has been a beau-ti-ful day today here in Dallas, TX. So beautiful in fact, that two of my friends here at work and I decided to walk down to Omega's in Deep Ellum for lunch. It's a mexican staple on our list of lunch outings, and again....it's a beautiful day, so we head out, talking all the way about how perfect the weather is at a cool 71ยบ and how it's been a nice change from the freezing temperatures we've been experiencing of late.

Clint, or Co-Worker #1 as I'll henceforth be referring to him, even mentioned how crazy it was that it was so sunny because the little widget on the weather.com site kept showing clouds and rain, etc. "Rain!?!," we guffawed, and walked on, chests puffed up with the unjustified confidence of youth.

We finish up our delightful meal of fajitas and tamales galore (even though we missed Monday's tamale lunch special-drat!) and walked outside to find it even sunnier than before! Until, that is, we looked to the right, toward work. There, in the western sky, we were greeted by black ominous skies. We pick up the pace a little, believing that if we book it we can make it back to work before the storm.

We make it to the overpasses and the dog park that mark the halfway point between Omega's and work, when the sprinkles they start a'comin' and Co-Worker #3, who shall heretofore be called Jeff, suggests that we stop and call someone from work to come pick us up. I'm skeptical, and think that we could make it before it gets too bad, and that heck! it might even be a little fun to get wet on the way back! They shut me down with the fury of one thousand suns and we decide to wait.

That's when the rain starts pouring down. And then the hail. Hundreds of hail balls ranging in size from large peas to milk duds. They start hitting us through the spaces between the overpasses - fun!

Here's a rogue piece of hail that hit my arm:

Here's the sidewalk where we waited:

Cars started pulling under the overpasses to stay out of the line of fire and we saw our rescue car, Eric, off in the distance doing the same. He pulls up and saves us from the toils of inclement weather, and thus ends our adventure.

Even now as I type this, there is not a cumulonimbus cloud in the sky and the sun is shining brighter than ever.

Until next time, oh mysterious precipitation bearing sky! Until next time!!!

asthmatically february!

That's right folks, it's February! Happy birthday to all those that I know have birthdays in this glorious second month of the year! Including my fanciful husbo! And all God's people said, "NEXT!!"

So anyhoot, I started getting sick on Monday of this week, but I totally thought it was going to be an annoying cold, and since I just got over a bad one in which a cold virus settled into my throat, I was not looking forward to this one. Doesn't that sound so deceivingly cute? Like a little cold virus is cuddling up with his favorite blanket, cup of tea and a NY Times Crossword puzzle? Well it didn't feel so cute inside my distressed cold virus infested throat. (who wants a kiss?) In any case, I was better.

Until Monday. Then on Tuesday it was much worse. I tried to go to work but ended up leaving after lunch. Coughing, chills, hot, cold, can't breathe, the uszhe. Then I took Wednesday off, too, because I was not getting any better. Gave me a chance to catch up on Project Runway, what what!! My vote is with Christian! But again, I digress. So after a night of waking up every hour almost on the hour in a fit of coughing, I finally wake up for the final time to find that I'm coughing up a little bit of red. Er....umm.......Maybe it's time to see a doctor, methinks!

So I go to the doctor to find out that I don't have pneumonia (which she feared), but instead I have a case of bronchitis and asthma. What?! I've never had asthma! Crazy! It's not a permanent case, but more like bronchitis induced, I guess. In any case, she gave me a prescription for antibiotics, steroids and an inhaler! How cute is that! I'll show you how cute it is:

I think I'll name her Clara.
